Step-by-Step Process
Obtain APS Certificate
Apply for APS (Academic Evaluation Centre) verification at the German Embassy Kathmandu. Required for all Nepali students. Processing: 4–8 weeks.
Apply to University
Apply via the university website or uni-assist. Winter semester (October): apply by May–June. Summer semester (April): by November–January.
Open Blocked Account (Sperrkonto)
Deposit €11,208 into a German blocked account (Sperrkonto) via Fintiba, Expatrio, or Deutsche Bank. This money is released monthly after arrival.
Purchase Health Insurance
German public health insurance (TK, AOK, Barmer) costs approximately €110/month for students under 30. Required for visa.
Submit National D Visa Application
Apply at German Embassy Kathmandu with all documents. Pay visa fee €75. Processing: 6–12 weeks.
Arrive & Register
Upon arrival, register at your local Einwohnermeldeamt (resident registration office) within 2 weeks. Enroll at university and register with health insurance.
